Military & Veteran Wellness

Sunstone is committed to supporting the mental health and well-being of active-duty service members, veterans, and their families.
Psychedelic therapy offers a novel, research-based pathway to address trauma, restore resilience, and support long-term recovery.
Military service often involves experiences that may lead to trauma, moral injury, chronic stress, and challenges with reintegration into civilian life. Our clinicians bring experience working with military-connected populations and provide care that is culturally informed, confidential, and grounded in evidence-based practice.
We recognize the importance of trust and collaboration in this work and strive to create a therapeutic environment that honors service while addressing complex mental health needs.
Addressing Moral Injury
Moral injury—the “soul wounds” resulting from acts that violate deeply held moral beliefs —is a pervasive issue and a powerful predictor of suicidal behavior. Our work with psilocybin, methylone and empathogens (like MDMA) offer a promising pathway for veterans to cultivate self-forgiveness, self-compassion, and reclaim their humanity.
Cultural Alignment
Our care is designed to align with the self-directed and mission-focused ethos of veteran culture, emphasizing participant empowerment and “going inside” to explore inner terrain.
Medical Conditions
Some medications can interact negatively with psychedelics. Combining certain antidepressants like SSRIs and MAOIs with psychedelics can cause a potentially fatal condition called serotonin syndrome.
Group and Speer Support
Recognizing the unit-centered, mission-driven culture of military service, we champion group treatment models and peer support, which can be safer, more economical, and highly efficacious for fostering restored connection, camaraderie, and a renewed sense of purpose.
We recognize the importance of trust and collaboration in this work and strive to create a therapeutic environment that honors service while addressing complex mental health needs.
